IPTV Smarters Pro is a widely used IPTV player with separate sections for live TV, movies and series. Its simple, tile-based home screen makes it easy for the whole family to use, and it runs on several platforms. It is important to know that Smarters is only a player — it does not include channels. You add the login details from your IPTV provider. This guide explains where Smarters is available, how to set it up with Xtream Codes or M3U, which features are worth using and how to fix common problems.
What IPTV Smarters Pro is (and isn’t)
Smarters is a player app: it reads your provider’s login and displays the content your subscription includes. You may see “Smarters providers” advertised online — that simply means providers whose logins work in the Smarters app. The app itself never supplies channels, so be wary of anyone selling “Smarters with channels included” without being clear about the service behind it.
Where IPTV Smarters Pro is available
Versions of IPTV Smarters have been offered for Android phones and tablets, Android TV, Fire TV and Apple devices. Availability in each app store changes over time and by region, so search your device’s official store. Our support team can confirm the current recommended option for your device.
Setting up with Xtream Codes API (recommended)
- Open IPTV Smarters Pro and accept the terms.
- Choose Login with Xtream Codes API.
- Enter any name for the playlist, then the username, password and server URL from your provider.
- Tap Add user. The app downloads live TV, the EPG, movies and series.
- Select your user to open the home screen with Live TV, Movies and Series tiles.
Setting up with an M3U playlist
- Choose Load your playlist or file/URL.
- Select M3U URL and paste the link from your provider.
- Save and wait for the playlist to load.
Xtream Codes usually gives a better experience because on-demand content and the EPG are organised automatically. Read M3U vs Xtream Codes for the details.
A tour of the main sections
Live TV
Channels grouped by category, with a mini guide showing what’s on now and next. Open the full TV guide from the live section to browse by time.
Movies
A library with posters, descriptions and search. You can resume a film where you stopped.
Series
Shows organised by season and episode, with “continue watching” for the next episode.
Catch-up
Where your provider supports it on specific channels, you can watch recently aired programmes.
Useful features
- EPG: open the TV guide from the live TV section; refresh it from settings if it is empty.
- Parental controls: lock categories with a PIN in settings.
- Favourites: long-press a channel to add it.
- Multi-screen: some versions can show several channels at once — note that each uses a connection.
- External player: you can choose another installed player (such as VLC) for playback if needed.
- Time format and EPG offset: adjust in settings if guide times look wrong.
Recommended settings
- Player: start with the built-in player; switch to an external player only if a stream won’t play.
- Stream format: if a channel doesn’t start, try switching between the available formats in settings.
- Automatic EPG update: turn on so the guide stays current.
- Hide categories: keep the lists short and fast.
Common problems and fixes
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| “Invalid login” | Check for extra spaces; make sure the server URL includes http:// and the port if one was provided |
| No EPG | Settings → refresh EPG, then wait a few minutes |
| Movies list empty | Use Xtream Codes login instead of M3U |
| Channel won’t play | Try another stream format or the external player |
| Buffering | See our buffering guide |
Using Smarters on different devices
One advantage of Smarters is that it looks similar on phones, tablets and TV devices, so the whole family learns it once. On a phone, the touch layout makes browsing films and series quick; on Fire TV or Android TV, the big tiles are easy to navigate with a remote. If you use several devices, add the same login to Smarters on each one — just remember that each screen playing at the same time uses one connection.
On a phone or tablet, Smarters can also be useful while travelling. Download nothing, sign in with the same details, and your favourites and categories appear as they do at home. On mobile data, choose lower-quality streams to save your allowance.
Getting the most from the movie and series sections
- Use search rather than scrolling — it is much faster with large libraries.
- Use “continue watching” to resume films and episodes.
- Sort by recently added where available to see new titles first.
- Add to favourites to build your own watch list.
If a film takes a long time to start, try the external player option or a different stream format in settings. Persistent problems with specific titles are worth reporting to support with the title name.
Smarters vs TiviMate
Smarters is section-based and great for families who watch a lot of films and series; TiviMate is TV-style and great for channel surfing with a full guide. Many people install both — your subscription works with either. Read our TiviMate guide and IPTV player comparison.
Security tips
- Download Smarters only from official app stores or the developer’s official site.
- Never share screenshots of your login screen — they contain your credentials.
- Remove old playlists you no longer use.
